Salisbury Steak Meatballs with Mushroom Gravy

Instructions:

Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Shape the mixture into 1-inch diameter meatballs.

Cook the Meatballs: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, approximately 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Mushroom Gravy: In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms are tender and browned, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms, stirring constantly, cook for 1 minute to cook off the raw flour taste.

Create the Gravy Sauce: Gradually add the beef broth and water to the skillet while continuously stirring to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer and let the mixture thicken into a rich gravy.

Combine and Simmer: Return the browned meatballs to the skillet with the mushroom gravy. Cover and let simmer for 15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and have absorbed the flavors of the gravy.

Season and Serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve the meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta for a delightful and fulfilling meal.
